The shooting club meets on a regular basis (the 1st Sunday of every month) and enjoys regular pursuits to the local surrounding countryside.
The club has approximately 25 members who can be seen meeting together and shooting at the monthly shoot. The day kicks off around 9am at the Kirkstyle Inn for bacon rolls and coffee, then its up on hill to shoot usually around 5 sets totalling about 50 clays. Members have their own shotguns but members are encouraged to bring along guests to try their hand. The shoot is usually finished by 1pm and then its back to the Kirkstyle for a pint or two and lunch if you wish.
Prior to the monthly shoot, members meet at the Kirkstyle the Monday before for an informal meeting and a chat.
There are special shoots during the year that are geared towards the social side of shooting, one of which is the Presidents Summer weekend shoot at Coniston Cold, North Yorkshire, an event looked forward to year by year. During the rest of the month, members can be seen practising at Auchterhouse, Dundee and Cluny Clays in Fife, and even at Gleneagles - if you know a member that is.
Other than clay shooting, the immediate countryside provides a whole range of other outdoor pursuits including: hill walking, golf ( The Gleneagles Hotel is only 5 miles away), tennis, bowls, microlighting, off road driving and much more and the Kirkstyle Inn is the perfect place to unwind with a drink and to recharge your batteries with the excellent choice of food on offer.
